A Play Kitchen as a Gift – How to Choose the Right One

A play kitchen is one of the safest gift choices for children aged 3 to 7. With it, children imitate their parents, learn the names of foods, count and learn to keep things tidy. Here is what to consider before you choose.

1. Age and height

Buba kitchens are for children over 3. The large models are about 68–93 cm high – tall enough for the child to stand and play just like at a real worktop. The exact dimensions are given in the description of each kitchen.

2. Space at home

Before ordering, measure the space in the children’s room. If it is small, a kitchen in a carry case or a fast-food trolley is a great alternative – they are easy to put away and perfect for playing at grandma and grandpa’s too.

3. Effects

Kitchens with running water, steam, lights and sounds bring the most joy. There are also models with play food that changes colour in ice-cold water, as if it has been cooked. The effects run on batteries, which are usually not included – buy them together with the gift so the child can start playing right away.

4. Accessories

Check what comes in the set: pots, utensils, play food, a shopping basket. You can add a fruit basket or a cash register – and the kitchen turns into a whole restaurant or shop.

5. Colour

Many models come in two colours – for example pink and blue or grey. Neutral colours suit sisters and brothers alike and fit any room.
